Edna Norma White, 98, was called Home by her Savior on October 17, 2019 at Life Care Center of Cheyenne.

She was born November 27, 1920, near Dalton, Nebraska, to Theodor and Anna Poppitz. At the age of sixteen she left home to go to work in Cheyenne, Wyoming. There she met Fred J. White, whom she married on October 3, 1942.

She worked at a variety of jobs, including one for the Wyoming Attorney General, before going into accounting and taxes. She worked at the Engstrom Accounting Office for about 20 years, and then spent shorter times at Cannon Aeronautical Center and the Wyoming Education Association. She retired from WEA in the late 1970s. As a hobby she taught herself how to paint and became a gifted artist, with many of her landscape and floral oil paintings gracing Cheyenne homes. She was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She had a deep love for her Lord, her family and friends. To the delight of many, she carried a sense of humor in her back pocket.

She is survived by one brother, Arnold Poppitz, and his wife Jeannette; sister-in-law, Bernice Poppitz; seven nieces; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; brother, Edwin Poppitz; and sister, Wilma Norberg.

Services will be Thursday, Oct. 24, at 10:00 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4776 Mountain Road, followed by interment in Beth El Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Services are under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home and condolences may be offered at

“Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:6).

The first time I met Edna was back in the early 70's when we both worked at Cannon Aeronautical Center. I had recently graduated from high school and this was my first job outside my folk's pizza business. Edna and I became friends, she was a very kind sweet lady. She took me under her wing and talked to me about how to work hard and be somebody. When our work at Cannon was done she was looking for a job. I had already moved on with her advice and I started a job at Stanfield's Office Supply. I contacted her to come down and apply for the accounting position. She was hired as the accountant and I was the front clerk of the store. We enjoyed working together again!! Unfortunately, I moved on to college and lost touch with Edna. I have thought about her many times over the years wondering where she was working and hoped she was well. May God Bless her in many ways! Lou Ann Grant Cropper
