Robert L. Thomas, Sr., 85, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born July 8, 1931, in Casper, Wyoming, a son of the late Lawrence E. and Verma (Lee) Thomas.

Robert married Adeline Lux on October 18, 1951, at Randolph AFB, TX He served over 24 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He later worked for WyDot as a right-of-way engineer, and was a long-time member of the Cheyenne Elks Lodge, and was their secretary for 12 years. He was an active member of Cheyenne Frontier Days HEELS. He will be remembered as someone who was willing to help anyone in need. His favorite saying was “I don’t give handshakes, I give hugs.”

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Adeline; three children, Lawrence E. Thomas, II of Cheyenne, Diana L. Neil (Larry) of Eckert, CO, and Robert L. Thomas, Jr. of Ft. Collins, CO; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra Goddard of Casper; and many cousins. He enjoyed and loved his family and being a part of his grandchildren’s lives. He will be GREATLY missed by them all.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Vern Thomas.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, April 7th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Columbarium.
