Howard C. “Hap” Arnold, 88, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, peacefully passed away November 13, 2016, at the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne.
Hap was born July 4, 1928, in Findlay, Ohio, son of Edson M. and Gladys L. (Hill) Arnold.
Hap served honorably in the United States Air Force retiring as a Senior Master Sargent. His family moved to Cheyenne in 1964, retiring from service in 1973. He worked as a manager of for Montgomery Ward and enjoyed playing Santa for a number of years. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge, York and Scottish Rites, and served as a Shrine clown.
Hap is survived by two children, Bill (Barb) Arnold of Cheyenne, Becky Edmiston of Findlay, OH, and an exchange daughter, Regina Brait of Brazil; a brother, Carl (June) Arnold of Findlay, OH; a grandson David (Sarah) Edmiston of Cleveland, OH; two granddaughters, Jessica (Erik) Swanson of Colfax, NC and Mary Anne ( Michael Gould) Edmiston of Columbus, OH; three step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Janelle and Justin all of Cheyenne; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a special nephew, 2-Tall Arnold of Cheyenne.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Virginia M. (Redick); brother, David Arnold; his parents; an infant brother and sister; son-in-law, Jim Edmiston; and grandson, Levi Arnold.
A memory service will be held Friday, at 10:30 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
